About Us

Area Career Center University gives School City of Hammond (SCH) students a unique opportunity to further their education while earning their high school diploma.  SCH has forged a partnership with Vincennes University.  As a result of this partnership the ACCU model was created.  In this model students will earn a minimum of a Core40 Diploma with the possibility of earning 1 to 2 years of Transferable College Credits, relevant to work experience, and industry recognized certifications.  This makes the high school learning experience not only tied to college work, but actually count  as college work.

With rising workforce demands, earning a high school diploma will no longer suffice.  The two main barriers to employment for most people are lack of skills and higher education.  ACCU allows students a brighter future by giving extended support and skills to be college and career ready upon graduation.
